Now I use Hohners, so don't get me wrong. I would put forth the fact that just because there is a less than 1/2 of 1% return rate,
does not mean that there are not inherent problems at a larger rate than 1/2 of 1%. I would think that most people simply
would not bother contacting Hohner, complaining, and shipping the harp back to Hohner. SInce we are talking about a relatively
inexpensive item(in relation to other professional instruments) I would think that it is not worth most people's time and effort.

Nope. I would guess less than 1% of harmonica players and buyers work on their harps at all. Harp-l is not a representative body, especially not if you just look at the few people who actually post compared to the thousand-odd who lurk. Looking at harp-l makes you think everyone is taking their harps apart and tweaking them to their hearts delight. That simply isn't the case at all-- a few people do this and write about it. Most don't bother.
